The baptism of the Holy Spirit is just the beginning
of a continual life of being filled with the Spirit.
It is part of conversion and it comes with
repentance and faith. It's the normal, basic
New Testament experience with God. It is the
birth of the Spirit. God has promised this
experience to all who will believe Him and
has commanded all to receive the Spirit.
THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Power to witness and be a living testimony that
Christ saves from sin.
Power to overcome sin, live righteously, and
mortify the deeds of the flesh.
Romans 8:4, 13
Resurrection power when Christ
comes for His church.
THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
By the Spirit we are born into the
kingdom of God.
The Spirit adopts us into the family of God.
Romans 8:15-16; Galatians 4:5-6
The Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ.
I Corinthians 12:13
The Spirit sanctifies us.
I Corinthians 6:11; I Peter 1:2
The Spirit is the seal of our salvation.
The Spirit is the earnest
(pledge, guarantee, first installment)
of our inheritance.
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you,
in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise
is for you and your children and for all who are far off -
for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
